How it works

Set up takes a few minutes, and members never need a password.

  1. Create your group

    The chairperson sets the group's name, type, contribution amount and cycle. Stokbook gives you a short invite code.

  2. Members join by phone

    Members sign in with their cellphone number and a one-time code sent by SMS, then join with the invite code. No passwords to forget.

  3. Mark payments as they happen

    Record each contribution when it is paid. Everyone can see who is up to date and who is still due.

Records, never your money

Stokbook does not hold, move or process any money. Your group keeps paying each other the way you do today, whether by EFT, cash or any other agreed method.

Stokbook simply records that a payment happened, so the whole group can see it.

Questions

Does Stokbook handle our money?

No. Stokbook only keeps records. Members continue to pay each other directly, the way your group already does. The payment is then marked as paid in Stokbook.

Which kinds of stokvel can I use it for?

Savings, burial, grocery, rotating payout, investment, social and property stokvels, and any other group that collects regular contributions from members.

What information does Stokbook keep?

Your cellphone number so you can sign in, plus the records your group creates: the group's details, its members and its contributions. We do not need your bank details or card numbers.

Is it available now?

Not yet. Stokbook is in development. Join the early access list and we will contact you when it is ready to try.

What will it cost?

Pricing has not been announced yet. Early access members will hear about it first.
